About Me

I am the award-winning author of the MISTER LISTER series, and the young people’s novel, THE SEVENTH HANDMAIDEN.

I have a wonderful husband, terrific children, many extraordinary grandchildren, and adorable great-grandchildren, too.

Today

My first children’s book, MISTER LISTER, was published in 2018 by Menucha Publishers. It was followed by MISTER LISTER STRIKES AGAIN, and then MISTER LISTER AND THE TWO-WAY GIFT joined the series. Also in 2018, I won the Manuscript Award of the Association of Jewish Libraries. That manuscript became the young people’s novel, THE SEVENTH HANDMAIDEN, published by Green Bean Books. It is now a Sydney Taylor Notable Book.

Previously, I worked as an advisor and editor of a high school newspaper. Concurrently, I taught Language Arts, History and Creative Writing to lively middle school students. These days, I still teach creative writing. And many of my highly talented students published their own novellas on Amazon at the end of the school year.

I have written articles and book reviews for various publications, and I am an experienced writing coach, editor and ghostwriter. Occasionally, I even sleep!

Previously

From the time I was a child, I planned on being an author, but I traveled a long, winding road to reach that goal. Along the way, I taught English in Israel, and English, History, Creative Writing, and Journalism in the United States. I also ran a business called Custom Cakes, creating unique designs for birthday and Bar and Bas Mitzvah cakes, and towering confections for weddings. Additionally, I wrote articles for newspapers and worked as an editor. All along, I kept sending my stories to publishers and receiving rejection letters. At last, Menucha Publishers accepted MISTER LISTER, and my fiction-writing career began.
